Job Summary

Reporting to the Global Senior Manager of Technical Service, this role manages and maintains regional and some global Grace technical relationships with customers through frequent direct contact and service delivery that helps increase profits. Works closely with Sales, Marketing, R&D and new business development in identifying, developing and achieving business objectives for the assigned product platform.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical expert to regional and some global Grace customers by troubleshooting technical issues at the customer site, demonstrating Grace product capabilities, recommending solutions and serving as the Grace representative in technical proposals to the customers
  • Work closely as an individual contributor and team leader with other functions in Grace (mainly R&D, Marketing, Quality, Logistics, Process Technology, Operations and Business Development) to deliver Grace’s full portfolio of products and services.
  • Support sales and marketing in identifying the competitive advantages, benchmarking, marketing effort and market segmentation of the business. Provide innovative ideas to strengthen sales in existing polyolefin markets and open new applications and play a critical role in Product Development (Grace) discussions as the Technical Expert contact.
  • Manage the trial cycle. Understand customer application and advice the customer about pilot and commercial trials during the pretrial, actual trial and post-trial analysis to demonstrate our product and to achieve the performance targets that they have; and adhere to internal TCS Metrics.
  • Provide on-site and remote support during customer trials in order to assist customers in achieving maximum benefit from Grace products; ability to shepherd trials from end-to-end.
  • Ability to translate trial findings to next needed steps and communicate customer needs across the functions and lead technical interface discussions with customers.
  • Work with R&D personnel to design programs to support specific customers as well as general industry needs.  Interpret results in a manner that is relevant to commercial use of Grace polyolefin products and services, including the assessment of technical feasibility and commercial value of Grace products and services.
  • Support other regions, product portfolios or projects as needed.
  • Comply with all internal and external safety regulations

Required Experience

  • BS Chemical Engineering or equivalent technology degree with relevant experience
  • 10+ Years prior experience in relevant Polyethylene (preferred) and Polypropylene industrial assets(s)
  • Practical experience with commercial reactors and operations
  • Advanced catalyst experience in Metallocene
  • Ability to travel ~60% mainly in assigned region (but could include global travel).
  • Good working relationship with sales / prior customer interface experience/prior Tech service is preferred
