Job Description

As a payroll specialist for Germany you will be responsible for executing payroll processing and any additional payroll processes and handling employee queries. You will also be the first contact person for the employee in country benefit matters. Your role will include close collaboration with HR, payroll stakeholders and third-party providers. For filling this position, you will need a solid German payroll and benefit knowledge in an industrial environment, have the ability to perform tasks in compliance with existing procedures, possess a strong customer focus, excellent communication skills (at least good reading and speaking level also in English language) as well as high service orientation.

 

Scope of responsibilities:

  • Deliver the highest quality of service in payroll operations by executing all activities in compliance with existing procedures, legal and internal regulations and customer requirements. This includes the application of complex CBA or works council agreements
  • Manage timely and accurate payroll execution for multiple entities in Germany
  • Execute time and attendance processing
  • Counselling employees in regular benefit matters (company pension, CBA rules, long time account, …)
  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (outsourced payroll provider, HR, Compensation and Benefit team, authorities and auditors)
  • Evaluate internal processes and service deliveries, make recommendations and support implementing changes for improved efficiencies
  • Contribute in relevant projects
  • Ensure flawless communication with the business and employees and be accountable for delivering on ad hoc queries
  • Participate in key payroll and timekeeping related projects

Required Skills

  • Good understanding of complex payroll specificities
  • Detail-, deadline- and goal-oriented
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organization skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • English and German skills both speaking and writing – good level is mandatory
  • Professional use of MS Office, particularly a high standard of Excel
  • SAP HR knowledge – mandatory
  • Ability to organize own work, to communicate efficiently, initiative and team player

Required Experience

  • Qualified commercial apprenticeship or comparable education with a HR overall background
  • 5+ years professional experience in HR with payroll execution - preferably in a shared service team
  • Comprehensive knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements in Germany (including GDPR)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of local accounting practices and regulations is a plus
