Job Description

 

We are seeking an experienced Technical Service Manager to be a part of global technology services team at W. R. Grace. We are searching the talent in both Japan and South Korea market. The location of this role is Tokyo Japan.

  • Accountable for process monitoring and optimization of Advanced Refining Technologies, ART (joint venture between Chevron and Grace) customer hydroprocessing units
  • Recommend operating guidelines for optimum unit performance
  • Provide troubleshooting and turnaround support
  • Develop catalyst performance evaluations and projections
  • Develop technical proposals for new catalyst systems based on customers future operating plan and requirements
  • Assist ART customers to meet their objectives safely and reliably
  • Support ART sales to retain our customers
  • Prepare technical proposals for new customers or new units
  • Build understanding and develop organizational capability within the technical teams
  • Interface with customers to support catalyst loading and startup
  • Troubleshoot operational problems delivering catalyst performance reviews
  • Approximately 30% of international travel will be required

Required Skills

  • Understanding of hydroprocessing technologies including crude oils and petroleum products, hydroteating process and operation, chemical reactors and fluid dynamics, catalyst and catalytic reactions, kinetic modeling and simulation, and environmental health and safety is required
  • Ability to develop and present a technical proposal, assist catalyst loading and startup, monitor and review catalyst performance, understand technical questions and provide answers, troubleshoot both catalyst and process and recommend operating guidelines.
  • Communication and presentation skills in both English and native language are very important to build and develop relationship with customers as a main contact and understand customers’ problems and requirements to provide recommendations in a timely manner

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in oil industries including refinery, the Engineering (EPC) and the Research Institute
  • 3+ years of experience with hydroprocessing technologies
  • Experience with residue hydrotreating or residue hydrocracking (ebullating bed) is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Industrial Chemistry.
