Job Description

Grace South Haven is looking for a qualified and energetic chemist to join our R&D team.  The R&D Scientist will work to support current commercial products with a focus on continuous improvement initiatives and manufacturing trouble shooting. Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a MS/BS in Chemistry with greater than 10 years of relevant work experience in API process development and production support. The successful candidate must be a highly productive, results-oriented individual capable of generating and implementing original ideas and solutions that contribute materially to the success or commercial products. Strong communication, organization, and planning skills; and a high level of technical expertise and creativity are required for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  

  • Responsible for supporting  commercial API products and  processes with a focus on continuous improvement and regulatory support.  
  • Sound understanding of synthetic organic chemistry fundamentals, technical knowledge and experience in, process scale-up, troubleshooting and optimization
  • Familiarity with modern laboratory instrumentation (NMR, HPLC)
  • Understanding of cGMP concepts and application of Q7A principals towards the manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to interact, lead, and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Experience with laboratory automation equipment – parallel reactor technology, and design of experiments (DoE) applications for process optimization.
  • Proven ability in problem solving and multi-tasking.
  • High Achiever / Self-starter / Strong Interpersonal Skills.
  • Ability to balance individual and team responsibilities.
  • Highly organized with excellent communication skills - verbal and written.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with 5 years of experience in API development/manufacturing OR MS/BS with 10 years experience in API development/manufacturing.
