Job Description

The Quality Control Supervisor plans, coordinates, and supervises quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.  The QC supervisor is in charge of 8-10 lab techs that work different shifts supporting a 24 hour operation on site.  This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager on site. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Directly supervises employees in quality control.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; ensuring shift coverage; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Directs technicians engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products. Ensures adherence to cGMP, site requirements, and data integrity policies.
  • Investigates laboratory OOS/OOT results, laboratory related deviations, marginal results, and customer complaints regarding quality. Assures appropriate CAPA are put in place and executed.
  • Maintains quality control objectives and coordinates objectives with production, R&D, Demand Chain, and AS to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Maintains stability program samples, coordinates testing, and submits data to Quality Assurance. Oversees site USP water, Potable water, and Environmental testing and final product shipment inspection.
  • Reviews change control for various documents including test methods, method validations, new batch records, and SOPs. Initiates and/or reviews laboratory equipment MOCs. Reviews QC laboratory SOPs according to schedule.
  • Maintains analytical standards, laboratory chemical and consumables supply, and instrument calibration/maintenance program.
  • Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to product quality and reliability.
  • Performs trending of OOS/OOT investigations, USP water, Potable water, and Environmental testing. Contributes to Quality section of Product Quality Review (PQR) per set schedule.
  • Assists with site audits, leading QC laboratory tour, acting as QC subject matter expert, and assisting with audit responses related to the laboratory.

Skills, Experience and Education

Education and Experience

BS/BA preferred with five years of experience in a GMP laboratory environment.

Skills

Demonstrated ability to manage and lead professional laboratory staff in order to achieve goals.

Demonstrated ability to evaluate and resolve complex technical problems.

Broad based knowledge of pharmaceutical/cGMP environment preferred.
