Job Description

Location: Grace Medical Facility

Responsibilities (1 of 3)

  • Provides medical services to W. R. Grace that could include telephonic or in person care.
  • First incident supports assessing, treat, and advise medical treatment of employees with minor to life threatening injuries including emergency response. Documents first incident details.  Contacts, collaborates, and initiates workman’s compensation case, if needed or internally manages case to reduce claims, cost, and restricted or lost time days.
  • Assessment and treatment of occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses
  • Case management and tracking of occupational injuries and illnesses (Worker's Compensation)
  • Provides effective case management oversight related to Workers' Compensation with focus on prompt issue resolution and timely return to work. Manages many varieties of medical/disability cases from initiation, to closure, including data collection and analysis, interfacing with providers, developing plan of action, and coordinating all claim aspects as needed and not provided by insurance carrier.
  • Provide medical expertise to production unit managers and Human Resources, when assisting with employee issues such as substance abuse, emotional disturbances, absenteeism, reproductive hazards, employment, fitness for duty, vaccinations, and ergonomic issues
  • Verifying/coordinating return to work clearances of occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries, informing management of necessary job accommodations when appropriate, to ensure proper rehabilitation period, and safety of employees to resume duty.
  • Implements and maintains site medical services programs and procedures to meet Corporate Medical Guidelines and OSHA/other regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA and Government regulations and perform duties in accordance with site quality and safety systems.
  • Responsible for and completion of mandatory physical examinations, conducting physical for pre-employment, initial, periodic, and exit exams, as well as exposure dependent medical surveillance programs.
  • Coordinate pre-employment and off-site employees’ surveillances services through third party vendor when candidate is farther away and cannot attend onsite clinic.
  • Performs medical testing, venipuncture, evaluates medical records, and interprets results of diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities (2 of 3)

  • Coordinates and provides authorization of services to be completed by 3rd party and receives and reviews documents upon completion, communicating any necessary information to HR/recruiting/upper management.
  • Coordinates and implements annual flu shot clinic.
  • Orders, receives, maintains, and administers vaccines as indicated for BBP program, post incident tetanus, and/or travel vaccinations.
  • Assists in the development of clinical and emergency response treatment protocols and keeps protocols updated to reflect current best practices.
  • Assists Senior Manager in development and review of corporate policies, programs, and processes for occupational health.
  • Provide medical expertise on antidote/treatments of chemicals to contractors, hospitals, medical clinics, and physicians during emergency situations treatment inquiries.
  • May be (site specific need) required to provide quarterly training for site ERT for chemical antidotes and medical response supplies.
  • May be required (site specific need) to maintain BBP program and provide training to those required under the BBP OSHA standard CPR 1910.1030.
  • Maintains onsite antidote kits for sites that are determined to be needed for Grace site being staffed.
  • Maintains and annually updates OSHA 1910.1020 manual, as required.
  • Facilitates site drug screen program for Grace, collecting, processing, and maintaining compliance based on program requirements.  
  • Maintains compliant and adequate inventory of medication and supplies for employee health and emergency response.
  • Coordinates and maintains calibration requirements for equipment.
  • Annually updates provide documents and required prescriptive authority to vendors for site needs and compliance.
  • May need to attend training with Emergency Response Team (ERT) for medical support and to increase knowledge of response potentials. (site specific)
  • May be required, depending on the site, to assist with ERT training.

Responsibilities (3 of 3)

  • Document accurate medical records to ensure compliance with OSHA, legal and Government regulations.
  • Perform duties in accordance with site quality and safety systems.
  • Maintains complete medical records for all employee interaction in Cority EMR (or current EMR per Grace corporate). Ensures patient privacy and medical record confidentiality and compliance.
  • May be required to assist with or coordinate and oversee wellness opportunities such as blood drives, skin screenings, cardiovascular screenings, etc.
  • Completes and/or coordinates Travel physicals including required travel vaccine review, inoculation, and documentation as appropriate.
  • Requires travel to corporate headquarters and locations of corporate medical clinics as well as team building training and collaborations.
  • Collaborate with other site nurses, NP’s, contract physician and Regional Managing Director
  • Contributes to team meetings and maintains open, positive, and collaborative communication with other members of the Grace Medical Team and customers we support.
  • Other duties as determined and appropriate per local site

Required Qualifications

  • BSN-Bachelor of Science in Nursing or RN with significant work-related experience as determined by company and state policies and regulations
  • 1 year of occupational health nurse experience with demonstrated expertise in occupational health, occupational illness, and injury (case management and return to work programs.
  • Emergency Medical Responder certification may be required depending on state and local regulations.
  • BLS CPR Certified, NIOSH Pulmonary Function Certification preferred/willing to train appropriate candidate
  • COHC Certified for Audiometric Hearing Conservation Testing preferred/willing to train appropriate candidate
  • BAT-Breath Alcohol Technician certified /willing to train appropriate candidate
  • UDS collection certified may be required/willing to train appropriate candidate
