Job Description

Join our team as an Environmental Specialist and play a vital role in protecting our environment and ensuring the responsible operation of our pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in South Haven, Michigan. You’re a rising environmental professional seeking to broaden your skills and impact, and this role offers a great opportunity to do so! You’ll be the go-to expert for environmental compliance, working to ensure our regulatory compliance, optimize our processes and maintain a positive impact on our site & community.

This role is on-site in South Haven, Michigan and reports  the Senior Technical Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Compliance: Manage and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations, permits, and reporting deadlines.
  • Permit Expertise: Review, update, and manage environmental permits as needed, working collaboratively with regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct Site Assessments: Perform regular site inspections to identify and address potential environmental concerns.
  • WWTP & Utilities Optimization: Contribute to improvements in our on-site wastewater treatment plant and utility systems, enhancing efficiency and sustainability.
  • Pollution Assessment & Solutions: Analyze environmental data related to air, land, water, and waste generation, recommending solutions to minimize environmental impact.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Serve as the key point of contact with environmental regulatory agencies.

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field
  • 2+ years experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Chemical or Environmental Engineering
  • 2+ years experience in an environmental compliance role within a manufacturing environment
  • EGLE certifications as an Industrial Storm Water operator and/or Industrial Wastewater operator, are preferred but can be obtained following employment
  • Experience with RCRA and DOT regulations
