Job Description
The Technician Specialist works on catalytic tests and the characterization of FCC catalysts in the DCR laboratory of Grace Catalysts LLC at Sohar in Oman. One of the main tasks is to operate the DCR pilot plant.
Responsibilities
Compliance with all internal and external safety guidelines regarding occupational & traffic safety, environmentalprotection, according to the GRACE EHS system and the local legal system. Prompt identification or correction ofcorresponding deficiencies or misconduct.
Possesses working knowledge and skills to perform a set of analytical/scientific methods or operational processesthrough education, job-related training and work experience.
Performs catalytic tests on FCC catalysts, impregnates and deactivates FCC catalysts, and analyses feed oils andcracked products.
Characterizes lab-deactivated FCC catalysts, fresh FCC catalysts and FCC Ecats.
Performs the measurement data entry into a laboratory information and management system.
Assumes responsibility for instruments and equipment as equipment supervisor; performs regular maintenance andorders consumables.
Works within standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods.
Completes standard analyses, some non-standard chemical analysis and maintains equipment with a low degree ofsupervision.
Works independently with low guidance.
Participates in projects; collects data including preparing data in the form of tables/graphs and presentations ofinformation.
Assists in performing classroom and lab trainings for students.
Conducts laboratory and pilot plant tours.
Special Authorizations: Independently approves measurement results relevant to customers.
Required Experience
Knowledge of the characterization and test methods used
Knowledge of the materials to be analyzed and evaluated.
Fair product knowledge.
Microsoft Office knowledge.
Ability to work in rotating shift (first shift is 7:00 to 16:00; second shift is 14:00 to 23:00).
Required Qualifications
M.Sc./ M.Tech in Chemical Engineering; alternatively, a degree in Chemistry may be considered.
Desired skills and experiences
Knowledge about Heterogeneous Catalysis.
Knowledge of the Honeywell PID Control System.
Statistical knowledge.
Ability to work overtime, if necessary
