Job Description

Reporting to the Global Senior Manager of Technical Service, this role manages and maintains Grace technical relationships with customers through frequent direct contact and service delivery that helps increase profits. Works closely with sales managers, Corporate Account Managers, R&D and new business development in identifying, developing and achieving business objectives in the assigned product platform.


  • Serve as the technical expert to Grace customers by troubleshooting technical issues at the customer site, demonstrating Grace product capabilities, recommending solutions and serving as the Grace representative in technical proposals to the customers.
  • Manage and maintain Grace technical relationships with customers through frequent direct contact and service delivery that helps increase profits.
  • Work closely with other functions in Grace (mainly R&D, Marketing and Technology Managers) to deliver Grace’s full portfolio of products and services.
  • Support sales and marketing in identifying the competitive advantages, benchmarking, marketing effort and market segmentation of the business. Provide innovative ideas to strengthen sales in existing polyolefin markets and open up new applications. 
  • Manage the trial cycle. Understand customer application and advice the customer about pilot and commercial trials during the pretrial, actual trial and post-trial analysis to demonstrate our product and to achieve the performance targets that they have.
  • Provide on-site and remote support during customer trials in order to assist customers in achieving maximum benefit from Grace products.
  • Maintain broad based technical and economic knowledge of the Polyolefins business including Global sharing of key learning.
  • Work with R&D personnel to design programs to support specific customers as well as general industry needs.  Interpret results in a manner that is relevant to commercial use of Grace polyolefin products and services, including the assessment of technical feasibility and commercial value of Grace products and services.
  • Support other regions, product portfolios or projects as needed.
  • Comply with all internal and external safety regulations.

Required Skills

  • Strong technical skills and ability to apply skills in practical manner to solve customer problems/issues
  • Experience with commercial reactors and operations
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to present to customers effectively and good customer presence
  • Quick learner and able to have good problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter
  • Good business acumen – assessing business opportunities/customer problems and offering technology & solutions to customers
    • Being able to spot for technical opportunities and drive the implementation of Grace catalyst offerings at new or existing customers

Required Experience


  • BS Chemical Engineering or equivalent technology degree with relevant experience
  • Strong affinity or knowledge of Ziegler Natta chemistry and polyolefins, mainly polypropylene
  • 10+ Years prior experience in relevant polypropylene industries having stirred bulk, bulk loop, hybrid and/or stirred gas phase technologies
    • Operations experience in one of abovementioned technologies is a plus
    • Being part or having led teams with respect to (new) catalyst introductions in these technologies is a plus
  • Understanding of the polypropylene business and new business development
  • Ability to travel ~60% mainly within China and possibly Asia region
  • Good working relationship with sales / prior customer interface experience
  • Prior field technical service experience
  • Prior experience in working across regions for a global company
