Job Description

 

The Pasadena, TX, location is looking for a Maintenance & Engineering Manager to join our dynamic team.  This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and directs all activities of the plant Maintenance and Engineering department to provide a safe, healthy, environmentally compliant, and profitable work environment for the Pasadena Plant. The position has the principal purpose and responsibility for the maintenance, inspection and engineering activities within the Pasadena site and is accountable for managing effective maintenance, reliability, turnaround, and capital spend programs in accordance with all EHS and PSM policies and guidelines.  There are 7 direct reports as well as contractor management. 9/80 schedule is available. 
 

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead a team of project engineers in the safe and efficient execution of $2M to $90M in capital improvements.
  • Lead maintenance and reliability department in maintaining assets in a safe and efficient manner. 
  • Develop and execute programs to improve overall equipment efficiency and plant reliability.
  • Develop annual maintenance and capital budgets. 
  • Oversees plant maintenance activities with focus on long term improvements.
  • Develop accurate capital spend forecasts.
  • Provides leadership to direct reports along with facilitating career development, performance goals and feedback discussions.
  • Leads standardized training initiatives for the maintenance team; identifies and champions individual and team training needs.
  • Collaborates with plant teams including operations and process technology to support new product and technology implementations.
  • Oversee the Pasadena maintenance storeroom including critical spare parts required to maintain optimal plant performance. 
  • Participates in EHS incident investigations and completes corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for successful planning and execution of capital / maintenance outages and annual turnaround as the turnaround manager. 
  • Supports the Site PSM program to include the scheduling of PHA’s, mechanical integrity inspections and audits. 
  • Develops and implements plant maintenance strategies and improvement initiatives.
  • Identifies, monitors, and maintains key performance indicators (KPI’s) for maintenance, reliability and inspection and communicates with employees.
  • Effectively leads change and drives continuous improvement.
  • Serves as a member of the site leadership team.

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Chemical or Mechanical 
  • 10 + years of experience in the chemical industry including maintenance and/or reliability expertise 
  • PSM experience 
  • Strong knowledge of SAP
  • Team leadership and coordination skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong ownership to drive organization results and improvement
  • Assist site in achieving world class safety and environmental compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Leadership and management experience 
  • Capital Project engineering experience 

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
