Job Description

 

We are hiring a Logistics & Supply Chain Manager reporting directly to the Plant Manager to join our dynamic team at our Pasadena, TX facility!  This position will be accountable for managing all material flow in and out of the plant and oversees the supply chain business. They direct the activities of the plant Logistics & Supply Chain department to provide an environmentally sound, safe, healthy, and profitable work environment for the Pasadena Plant. The position has the principal purpose and responsibility for all logistics, distribution, shipping and supply chain activities within the site. 

 

The Pasadena, TX site has about 130 employees and is an important manufacturing and distribution site for polyolefin catalysts, which are used in the production of a wide variety of plastics that are part of our everyday lives. The site consists of three catalyst manufacturing units and a pilot plant, which is used to develop new manufacturing processes. The site also operates a process technology laboratory, which provides plant support for product scale-up, process development, and problem solving.

Responsibilities

 

  • Provides leadership and expertise to optimize inventories, material planning and transportation.
  • Manages and motivates the logistics and supply chain teams including setting goals and clear expectations and reviewing performance, coaching, and holding team members accountable.
  • Coordinates with Grace corporate customer service, production planning, operations and logistics groups for order fulfillment and process optimization.
  • Monitors daily inventory levels of raw materials, intermediates, and final products.
  • Maintains up to date data based on usage and demand.
  • Analyzes and reviews on-site inventory to ensure availability of materials to achieve shipping schedule. 
  • Initiates external material movements as needed to prevent shortages of raw materials.  
  • Conducts end-of-month close out activities.
  • Ensures proper training for all employees in the Logistics and Supply Chain department.
  • Follows up/investigates all incidents occurring in the Logistics and Supply Chain department; leads in developing and executing all corrective actions.
  • Coordinates processes for investigating shipment delays with Quality and Operations  
  • Lead change and drive continuous improvement
  • Promote and enforce all EHSS requirements and procedures.
  • Serve as a member of the site leadership team.

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

Required Qualifications

 

  • Team leadership and coordination skills
  • Assist site in achieving excellence in safety, process safety and environmental compliance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong ownership to drive organization results and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge in SAP and MRP processes for managing inventory and for Supply Chain activities. 
  • Must have working knowledge of PSM programs.
  • Must have chemical plant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of manufacturing, operations, or logistics experience with 5+ years in a leadership role
