Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) Manager
Grace is hiring an Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) Manager. The EHSS Manager plays a vital role in directing a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. The Manager is accountable for ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate EHSS requirements.
The Pasadena faciaility is an important manufacturing and distribution site for Grace polyolefin catalysts, which are used in the production of a wide variety of plastics that are part of our everyday lives. The site has three catalyst manufacturing units and a pilot plant, which is used to develop new manufacturing processes. It also operates a research laboratory, which provides plant
support for product scale-up, process development, and problem solving.
The EHSS Manager is in Pasadena, TX and reports to the Plant Manager.
Schedule: 5/8 or 9/80 Day Schedule (Monday-Friday)
Responsibilities
- Serves as a member of the site leadership team with direct supervision of safety and environmental specialists.
- Manages and leads improvements in the areas of environmental compliance, occupational safety, process safety and security for the manufacturing site.
- Manages the following programs to comply and drive continuous improvement with Process Safety Management (PSM): Incident Investigations, Employee Participation, Compliance Audits, Emergency Planning and Response and Training.
- Ensures alignment with Corporate EHS initiatives and objectives. Maintains close communications with Corporate EHS for collaboration and guidance as required.
- Ensures all environmental compliance, reporting, and permit requirements are met.
- Manages the safety training programs including providing direction and achieving continuous improvement to meet safety and environmental training requirements.
- Manages EHSS budget, tracks EHSS costs, finds opportunities for cost savings and leads cost initiatives.
- Reviews all plant maintenance and capital modifications to ensure compatibility with the overall EHSS and PSM compliance programs.
- Identifies, interprets, and reviews EHSS legal and other requirements and implements programs/procedures to ensure compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental science, Safety Engineering, or Engineering
- 10+ years in an industrial environment
- 10+ years in a leadership role within in manufacturing industry, performing safety and/or environmental related activities including environmental excellence and compliance programs in PSM plants.
- 7+ years of experience in an EHSS role
Physical Requirements and Environment
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
- Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an Environmental, Health and Safety or Chemical Engineering.
- Professional safety and/or environmental certifications (CSP, CSSE, OHST, etc.)
- Experience with industrial hygiene compliance
- Experience implementing procedures and systems to ensure environmental and safety regulatory requirements
- Experience in Chemical Production
- Experience with SAP, Team Guru and SharePoint or Equivalent
- Experience developing and delivering presentations which include complex information
- Experience with detailed record keeping
- Experience using Microsoft Office
