Job Description

We are in search of a Production Operator who will report to a Production Shift Supervisor in our Norco plant. The Production Operator performs both routine and non-routine plant duties to safely operate process equipment to meet EH&S, production, yield and quality requirements. This role requires the ability to work a 12-hour, rotating shift schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays and overtime. 

Responsibilities

  • Error free facilitation of operating discipline / procedures to ensure the safe and efficient operation of assigned production assets
  • Perform daily activities, project work and assigned tasks including field checks, process sampling and testing
  • Hazardous chemical transfers to and from portable containers (ex. tank trailers, drums, cylinders, totes, etc.)
  • Product packaging and securement for overland shipment per DOT requirements
  • Select and wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as it relates to the hazard and/or job task
  • Perform routine basic inspections on process equipment to ensure reliable operations
  • Decontamination, preparation and isolation of equipment for maintenance
  • Lockout / Tagout (LOTO) equipment to control hazardous energy sources
  • Generate and issue safe work permits
  • Post maintenance, commission equipment for start-up that ensures continued safe and reliable operations
  • Troubleshoot process-related deviations, develop and implement corrective action(s)
  • Utilize process knowledge and skill to identify areas for improvements in plant performance and operating discipline
  • Monitor, collect and input plant performance metrics
  • Participate in all plant programs and events including EH&S, reliability initiatives, training, Root Cause Investigations, etc.
  • Review procedures and make recommendations for improvement
  • Use computer based communications to monitor process data, access information, and initiate work systems
  • Mentor and train others on plant operations

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

Required Qualifications

•High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
•3 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment
