Job Description
The Sr General Accountant is responsible for supporting accurate and timely financial reporting and the month‑end close process for the North America and Latin America regions, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and established financial policies and internal controls. This role ensures the integrity of financial records, supports audits, and contributes to continuous process improvement within the General Accounting function.
Responsibilities
Perform month end close cycle activities, including but not limited to:
- Accruals of unposted invoices as of month-end
- Recording various accrual entries (e.g. commissions, volume rebates)
- lntercompany reconciliations and posting of related adjustmentsBank Reconciliations
- US payroll postings
- Sales deferral and accrual entries
- Other journal entries and adjustments necessary to complete the close
- End-of-month unposted invoices global reporting
- Validaiton of Global FX rates
- Clearing of Netting payments
Perform post Month End (ME) close cycle activities as follows:
- Accounts substantiation and analyses using Blackline tool
- Goods Received/Invoice Received (GR/IR) reconciliation and adjustments
- Freight analysis and consignment clearing
- Clearing of G/L account balances to ensure that only "Open Items" are retained in the ledger
- Cross-country audit review on selected balance sheet accounts
- Verification of data accuracy & data processing of accounting related informationPreparation of financial statements and related footnotes
- Government and statutory reporting
- Preparation of various corporate reports (e.g., debt, pension, and reserves)
- Hedge accounting activities
Responsibilities (2 of 2)
Manage fixed asset related activities, including:
- Creation and releasing of internal orders
- Closing of internal orders and capitalizing an asset
- Fixed asset disposal
- Internal order cancellation
- Construction in Progress reporting
- Fixed Assets reporting
- Administration of transaction assignment rules in GTreasury
- Participate in regular post month end close reviews to assess processes, identify issues, and propose improvements
- Assist and act as a primary contact for internal and external auditor requests
- Ensure compliance with finance policies, procedures, and internal control requirements
- Assist and act as primary contact for auditor request
- Ensure compliance with all finance policies and internal controls
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and administrative tasks as assigned by the General Accounting Supervisor or General Accounting Manager
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or an equivalent discipline
- 3–6 years of progressive finance and accounting experience in shared services, and/or corporate accounting
- Strong experience with general ledger functions and month‑end/year‑end close processes
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and GAAP
- Demonstrated strong technical accounting skills
- High proficiency in MS Office applications
- Experience with SAP systems is an advantage
- Strong analytical and business problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail
- Results‑oriented, proactive, and able to work independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
