Job Description

The Manager, Supplier Relationship Management is responsible for leading, developing, and governing a team of SRMs supporting both direct and indirect commodities. This role ensures consistent execution of sourcing strategies, strong supplier performance, and disciplined contract and compliance management across regions.


The Manager, Supplier Relationship Management acts as the execution and people-management layer between Category Management and day-to-day buying activity, ensuring SRMs operate with consistency, rigor, and enterprise alignment while delivering cost, risk, and service outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • People leadership and capability development: Lead and develop Supplier Relationship Managers for direct and indirect spend by setting clear performance goals, conducting reviews, and fostering growth through cross-training. Promote team engagement, retention, and career advancement.
  • Execution of sourcing and supplier strategies: Maintain consistent implementation of sourcing strategies set by Category Managers across all direct and indirect commodities. Ensure compliance with the full supplier process—covering identification, evaluation, onboarding, and lifecycle management—and offer escalation support when dealing with complex supplier, commercial, or performance challenges.
  • Supplier performance and relationship governance: Ensure SRMs are actively managing supplier performance, scorecards, and corrective actions, driving alignment to safety, quality, delivery, cost sustainability and risk standards.
  • Contracting, commercial discipline and risk management: Ensure that all contracts comply with procurement policies, adhere to established approval workflows, and meet risk management standards. Maintain appropriate segregation of duties and uphold audit readiness across the team.
  • Stakeholder and cross-functional collaboration: Act as the primary people and execution interface, while category managers retain strategy ownership. Align SRM execution with business priorities across regions and functions. Support escalation resolution and executive communication as needed.
  • Process governance and continuous improvement: Enforce consistent procurement processes, SOPs and system suage across the SRM team. Identify opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and automation. Partner with procurement analysts and Proc ops to track KPI and productivity.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
  • 8–10+ years of procurement experience across direct and/or indirect sourcing in a global or muti-national organization, preferably manufacturing and chemicals
  • 3–5+ years of people leadership or team-lead experience preferred
  • Strong commercial, negotiation, and supplier management capability
  • Experience operating in a global or GBS procurement environment
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills
  • Proven track record of delivering commercial value through negotiated sourcing and supplier management, including conducting RFPs.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems (e.g., SAP, SAC, Ariba, etc.) including PO creation (P2P), release and updating pricing info records and relevant data analysis and proficiency tools, i.e. Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence at all levels of the organization.
