Job Description
The Finance Manager, Tax is responsible for ensuring that all tax planning reporting and compliance operations as well as internal control activities performed in Manila are delivered based on identified metrics. Oversee the preparation of tax workpapers, filings and reporting activities which support the overall tax compliance and reporting obligations. The role includes training, assigning and directing the workflow of the staff. In addition, the Tax Manager will review all processes prior to delivery to the corporate tax team to ensure work products are complete, accurate and timely processed. This position is expected to be a strong partner with Grace’s business leaders in the region as well as global corporate tax, and external auditors to support the business needs.
Detailed Responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage day-to-day tax activities and projects in Manila
- Participate in continuous improvements to drive efficiencies, automation and accuracy in the function
- Provide strategic and operational tax support to the corporate tax team
- Provide timely and accurate tax calculations and reporting for both quarterly provision and annual tax return compliance processes
- Responsible for calculation and computation of the US state apportionment rate as well as computed the state blended rate
- Lead the fixed asset computation for tax depreciation as well as calculating the depreciation M-1 adjustment as well as reconciling the deferred tax with respect to fixed assets.
- Provide audit support to corporate tax team by way of account reconciliation and reporting needs
- Review of supporting documentation for tax provision calculation, head office overhead rebills, and transfer pricing adjustments (TPA)
- Lead and manage the unclaimed property tax process to ensure compliance with reporting obligations
- Manage stakeholders and provide permanent solutions for all issue escalations
- Assist in establishing goals for the department and staff together with the Tax GPO
- Provide ongoing performance and development assessments of staff
- Manage or participate on special projects as needed
Education
- Bachelor’s/College Degree in Accountancy, CPA required/MBA preferred
Skills, Knowledge, & Attributes
- 8-10 years’ experience in a corporate tax department in a global shared service setup or public accounting
- Knowledge of tax accounting, federal, state, local, and international tax matters
- Excellent leadership, organizational verbal and written communication
- Must possess strong analytical skills, be highly organized, detail oriented, and prioritize projects as needed
- Possess the ability to work independently and exercise own judgment
- Possess management reporting and leadership skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
- Must be able to challenge process deficiencies and recommend improvements
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Dynamic, flexible, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to engage and work with individuals
