Job Description

We’re hiring an MRP Planner to work onsite at our Lake Charles, LA manufacturing plant and support the site’s MRP activities. You will report to the Director, Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP). 

 

 

As an MRP Planner, you will be responsible for developing daily and weekly production schedules to ensure production deadlines are met. This role involves determining material, equipment, and labor requirements, preparing status and performance reports, and resolving supply planning related issues. You will have close collaboration with production teams, supply chain functions, and external partners to ensure the timely and cost-effective supply of materials necessary for uninterrupted production.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and manage production schedules to meet business demands.
  • Evaluate purchase orders and create suitable production schedules based on material availability and production capacity.
  • Estimate the required materials, equipment, and labor to support efficient production processes.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure materials are consistent with production schedules.
  • Ensure production related issues are promptly captured within the production schedule and communicated to Supply Chain management Coordinate production operations in alignment with material, labor, and equipment availability.
  • Recommend solutions to reduce production costs, improve processes, and enhance product quality.
  • Adjust production schedules as needed to meet changing demands and deadlines.
  • Deliver regular updates on production progress in forums established to support Supply Chain Execution (via e-mail, scheduled meetings).
  • Communicate schedule changes effectively to relevant departments to ensure alignment.
  • Manage inventory levels, track production volumes, and monitor customer demand patterns and purchasing trends.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure materials sourced for production meet quality, specification, and cost-efficiency requirements.
  • Oversee the supply and delivery of materials and finished products.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, procurement, customer service, supply leads, quality, and logistics to maintain smooth supply chain operations.
  • Manage inventory issues, schedule changes, and cancellations effectively.
  • Accountable for SAP MRP data maintenance and daily system management.
  • Executes monthly close out operations and leads the preparation of close-out reports and reconciliations.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency using Excel to include using pivot tables to analyze data.
  • Strong understanding of planning principles, including capacity planning, demand management, and inventory control.
  • Experience using an ERP with SAP highly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or related disciplines.
  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or other relevant certifications.
  • Experience as a Production/Material Planner.
  • Strong knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and planning software.
