Job Description

Grace is seeking a Logistics Lead to join our Logistics team! This role reports to the Logistics Manager located at our Lake Charles facilityThis role is accountable for managing all export shipping activities supporting Lake Charles FCC operations, ensuring accurate and timely product movement across international channels.

 

The position leads a team of two Logistics Coordinators and one Logistics Specialist while working cross-functionally with S&OP, Customer Service, Operations, and external logistics partners.

Success in this role is defined by reliable shipment execution, strong data integrity in SAP, and proactive resolution of logistics and inventory challenges to support overall business performance. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead employees to safely operate logistics and meet quality, safety, health, environmental, and cost goals in a 24/7 environment while complying with Federal, State, Local, Grace and Union policies 
  • Coordinates all FCC export shipment activities for Lake Charles and the Houston Warehouse. 
  • Communicates expected ship dates, delays, and follow-through to delivery to CSR, S&OP, and logistics partners, including trucking companies, steamship lines, drayage companies, and forwarding agents. 
  • Communicates product, quantities, and required dates for orders to Operations Planners, Logistics Analyst, Loader Foreman, and the Houston Warehouse. 
  • Maintains packaging and export documentation for each shipment and provides it to appropriate contacts. 
  • Compiles Bills of Lading (BOLs) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for each shipment. 
  • Enters SAP production postings for all shipped materials. 
  • Enters actual shipping weights for all outbound shipments and completes Transfer Orders and Goods Issues (GI) to generate order invoices. 
  • Reviews finished goods variances and assists in identifying and resolving discrepancies and  responds accurately to closeout questions and issues posed at month-end by S&OP. 
  • Participates in investigations regarding relevant customer complaints at both Lake Charles and the Houston Warehouse. 

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED. 
  • 3+ Years experience working in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation. 
  • Effective communication with cross-functional teams and external partners.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field. 
  • Possesses 3+ years of experience shipping by rail or truck in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Leadership experience at a plant and/or regional level 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of SOX, ISO, SOLAS, and Dangerous Goods (DG) requirements. 
  • Demonstrates experience working with SAP or similar ERP systems. 
  • Applies problem-solving skills to resolve logistics, inventory, and shipping discrepancies. 

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
