Job Description

Grace has an exciting opportunity for Senior Operational Risk and EHSSQ Assurance Engineer. The primary location listed is flexible.  This role can be located at various Grace locations but preferable in the Houston, TX area. This role reports to the Director of Global Operational Risk and EHS Assurance.  This role has global responsibility to design and execute audit approaches that evaluate application of Grace’s Process Safety, EHS, Security and Quality standards and management systems. This role requires specialized depth and breadth of expertise in auditing and assurance and experience is highly preferable in process safety, environmental, health, security and / or quality.

Responsibilities

  • Participates on EHSSQ Integrated audits as an Expert EHSSQ Auditor and Lead Auditor 
  • Standard Owner and Work Process leader of Operational Risk and EHSSQ assurance standards & work processes; provides structure and control for variances and compliance plans globally 
  • Provides Corporate Compliance reporting
  • EHSSQ Leader – Responsible for development and implementation of Grace’s EHSSQ Safety audit approach globally. Formulates recommendations to improve Audit Work Processes and associated tools by using in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge of process safety and basic knowledge of related EHSSQ disciplines. Partners with Process Safety Expertise to define and improve Process Safety audit protocols and testing strategy that can be used globally 
  • Manages Compliance Assurance to PSM/RMP (Process Safety Management/Risk Management Plan) rules 
  • Evaluates audit findings across the company to proactively identify risks and effectively develop value added recommendations for improvement as well as knowledge of company strategy, programs, and initiatives to analyze risk impact and proactively advise audit partners 
  • Applies deep knowledge of end-to-end work processes to identify and anticipate risk in relation to company strategy, programs, and initiatives 
  • Communicates and collaborates with audit partners and facilities to effectively develop value added recommendations for improvement, and maintains presence in industry regarding audit best practices and drives implementation in the organization 
  • Formulates strategic approach to ensure effective operational risk coverage, and directs the resolution of highly complex or unusual audit problems 
  • Proactively and effectively communicates audit trends and best practices to audit partners, and provides advisory and consultancy support for process changes 
  • Coaches auditors (full and part-time) on audit techniques and methods of analysis, and aids audit teams as necessary 
  • Proactively builds strategic partnerships with functional, business, and regional leaders 

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant EHSSQ auditing experience 
  • A minimum of 10 years of process safety, environmental, or manufacturing related experience 
  • Travel 50-70% 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a current or former Process Safety or Environmental Auditor 
  • A bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, with Chemical Engineering strongly preferred 
  • Chemical, petrochemical, or oil and gas experience
