Job Description

We’re hiring a Technical Manufacturing Manager for our East Chicago, IN site who will report to the Plant Manager. You will be responsible for the plant’s engineering and technical effectiveness, playing a critical role in leading and driving business and operational objectives to include EHS, Quality, Productivity, and Cost Effectiveness. Primary responsibilities include:


Organizational Leader

  • Manages the engagement, performance and development of their staffl; Leads communication and recognition efforts for the engineering and technical teams
  • romotes the development of a continuous improvement culture, including Six Sigma and Lean tools
  • Sustain Grace Manufacturing System transformation for long term operating cadence


Oversee Engineering & Technical Functions

  • Leads the Quality Team; Drives Quality systems to meet First Pass Quality objectives
  • Leads timely and thorough root cause investigations and responses to customer complaints
  • Coordinates with Business Quality Managers and Stakeholders
  • Leads the Quality Lab Team and manages the lab
  • Leads yield sustainability and improvement initiatives


Leads the Process Technology Team

  • Partners with Columbia Process Technology team on setting performance standards and priorities
  • Ensures PRISM and Tech Transfer Package processes are followed
  • Works with the Columbia PT team and provides support to East Chicago as needed for troubleshooting


Leads CapEx Team that cultivates, screens, prioritizes, and executes capital and non-capital opportunities, according to the CapEx Budget

  • Coordinates with Stakeholders
  • Support CapEx Team Lead by sponsoring projects with the site leadership team

Required Skills

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for chemical plants; Aptitude for chemical plant equipment operations and troubleshooting
  • Proficient in MS suite
  • Ability to tailor communication/messaging to all staff 

Required Experience

  • BS degree in Engineering, CHE highly preferred
  • 5+ years of operations experience in the chemical industry including leadership/management experience
