Job Description
Grace is seeking an experienced Millwright to join our Manufacturing team. This role is on-site at our East Chicago, IN location and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. The primary function of the positon is to rebuild, repair, install and maintain all mechanical equipment in the facility, including the infrastructure of the site, while ensuring a safe work environment. This position will also perform essential preventative maintenance task to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment at the site.
This position will work a daylight shift with rotating days. Must be available to work weekends, overtime and holidays as production demands dictate. All employees at the Grace East Chicago plant have environmental, health and safety (EHS) roles and responsibilities and are accountable for achieving compliance with our EHS Policy.
Responsibilities
- Fabrication of various items using welding and brazing tools.
- Aligning equipment using specialized tools, such as laser and micrometers.
- Collaborating with other technicians and engineers to improve equipment performance.
- Interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics for troubleshooting and PM purposes.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols and regulations.
- Inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems, including motors, conveyors, pumps, and turbines.
- Performing preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and reports.
- Operating hoists, cranes, and other lifting equipment to move heavy machinery
Physical Requirements and Environment
- Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of maintenance experience within a manufacturing setting
- Certified millwright.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
- Certified welder using MIG, TIG or other welding procedures.
- Expertise in fabrication and pipefitting.
- Experience in working on chemical equipment, conveyors, pumps, motors, utilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in mechanical maintenance or relevant trade
- Experience with predictive maintenance techniques, such as vibration analysis or thermography.
- Experience working in a chemical manufacturing facility or a similar regulated industry.
