Job Description


Grace is hiring an experienced Sr. Analytical Technician at our site in Columbia, MD. The Technician will report to the R&D Manager performing chemical and physical analyses of samples to support polyolefin resin and catalyst R&D, product development and scale-up, Licensee/Customer service, and manufacturing troubleshooting. This is a Monday through Friday, 8-hour day schedule. 

Responsibilites Include:

  • Foster a safety-centric culture, fully engaging in all aspects of corporate and work group specific safety initiatives
  • Perform routine and non-routine chemical and scientific tests, method development experience a plus 
  • Install, operate, maintain and troubleshoot/repair complex analytical instrumentation and equipment
  • Manage all aspects of assigned projects: work with researchers to execute experimental objectives, and with co-workers to coordinate workflows across all areas of the Analytical Sciences group to meet required project timelines
  • Compile, document, and report data from experiments
  • Demonstrate a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement
  • Perform laboratory housekeeping and procurement duties

Required Skills

  • Analytical instrumentation and testing with a focus on spectroscopy: Inductively Coupled Plasma – Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR).
  • Ability to work as a team with a dynamic group of co-workers supporting a broad range of Specialty Catalyst scientists
  • Proficiency in office-based computer software (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills

Required Experience

  • B.S. in Chemistry or related science field
  • Minimum of 2 – 5 years of experience in an analytical laboratory or manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in air-sensitive chemical manipulation preferred, experience with reactive materials considered a plus
