Job Description

The Materials Technology Research & Development group focuses on pharma and nutraceutical research. Projects may include investigating new glidants, excipients, chromatography, drug delivery, functionalized silica, and mRNA purification, a rapidly expanding research area. Research will focus on both early and late stages of R&D with the goal of delivering processes suitable for production scale. Group also supports production and works closely with clients to facilitate development and implementation of Grace technology.

The Senior Technician Specialist will support in various R&D projects by performing laboratory work in making and testing new materials for applications primarily in the Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical fields. 


  • Assists engineers and scientists with a variety of laboratory tasks
  • Performs chemical and/or physical analyses or scientific tests using both routine and special techniques in compliance with all safety standards
  • Collects, analyzes, and processes laboratory samples
  • Records results of tests, organizes data, performs basic computations, and prepares reports and analyses using standard procedures and guidelines
  • Provides technical support to Sales, Marketing, Technical Service and Manufacturing organizations as needed
  • Actively participates in required local safety program, along with the ability to work safely and maintain a clean and orderly lab environment
  • Installs, operates, maintains, and repairs laboratory test equipment, apparatus, systems and supplies

Required Qualifications


  • BS Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering with 0 yrs of experience OR
  • BS Degree with non-Chemistry degree with 5+ years of related experience OR
  • Associates degree with 10+ years related experience 
  • Knowledge of basic chemical and engineering principles
  • Strong knowledge of basic wet-chemistry laboratory techniques

Preferred Qualifications

  •   Experience with pharmaceutical excipients, glidants, active pharmaceutical ingredients and application
  • Some experience in automation in lab
  • Proficient with operation of typical computer-controlled laboratory instrumentation
  • Good manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
  • Some prior knowledge of inorganic chemistry
