Job Description

The Senior Global Category Manager, Indirect Categories is responsible for leading a ‘game changing’ Indirect procurement shift within W.R. Grace to a commercial category expert and valued business partner to more effectively manage Indirect Capital spending globally with an estimated annual spend of $15-20M. The role is responsible for developing and executing complex procurement strategies to provide business-building innovation, supplier quality solutions, comprehensive cost baselines, risk identification, with an extreme focus and attention to collaboration and building strong partnerships with key stakeholders as well as delivering total cost savings through commercial and technical project management and effective supplier relationship management.  Additionally, you'll conduct RFx, negotiate contract, price & payment terms, demand planning negotiations that focus on total cost of ownership while adhering to procurement policies and procedures.

 

The Senior Global Category Manager will report directly into the Director of Global Indirect Procurement.  Key focus areas including working effectively with the global sourcing team (GST), creation of strategic sourcing plans (SSPs), building stakeholder relationships, establishing comprehensive total cost baselines and category supply and demand drivers while working in concert with the business to understand business needs, market insights/shifts, risks and opportunities and to deliver against the established goals.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and executes global category strategies.
  • Provide differentiated value through providing recommendations/solutions to meet business problems and/or identify opportunities for improvement/innovation
  • Analyzes data or insights to determine industry and market trends, devises long-term development strategies for improved category performance
  • Thinks end-to-end and integrates business plans with sourcing decisions, financial performance and supply/service requirements
  • Utilizes advanced analytical skills and business intelligence to drive sourcing process end-to-end from selection through performance management to stay ahead of any sourcing issues and maximize value to Grace
  • Ensuring business continuity, governance and management for all types of supplier risk (including geographical, financial, performance related, financial, geopolitical and corporate social responsibility/regulatory compliance risks)
  • Provide innovation and oversight to ensure business value (e.g., cost, quality, availability, technology/innovation and sustainability) and open communication around key stakeholder requirements for all Capital goods and services. Delivers annual reductions in total cost of ownership

Required Skills

  • Experience working within supply chain functions with proven leadership capability
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise technology applications (such as SAP, Ariba (preferred), SharePoint) that enable sourcing and procurement execution and reporting
  • Must be able to critically review and negotiate contracts and possess a solid understanding of standard contract boilerplates; Able to critically evaluate supplier financial health and capabilities
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time, to include International

Required Experience

  • B.S. in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. 
  • 7 years’ work experience in a Category Management role with at least 5 years’ experience in Indirect Procurement (process equipment, engineering services, construction services)
  • Demonstrated communication, collaboration and leadership skills
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and influencing skills as evident by cross function alignment and delivery of initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA in supply chain management, Business Administration/Leadership, Operations, Finance, or equivalent with 3 years of experience
  • Supply chain certification (CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, CFPIM)
