Job Description

We’re hiring a Project Controls Engineer to join our Capital Projects team who will report to the Senior Project Controls Manager. This position will be based at our corporate headquarters in Columbia, MD, with relocation assistance offered, or at a potential future office location in Houston. In addition we offer a hybrid work schedule -  Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in the office and Tuesday and Friday from home.

 

 

Responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

  • Support project controls activities for projects across Grace business lines.
  • Assists Project Managers for preparation of project plans including budget, cash flow & invoicing plan.
  • Engages with Project Managers, enterprise-wide, to ensure project progress and spending is accurately reported and forecasted.
  • Engages with Project Managers to develop cost reports showing project authorized budget vs current forecast, cost to date, forecast to go, trend analysis and variance against approved budgets
  • Develop project progress tracking reports including productivity reports and Earned value metrics.
  • Assists in the preparation and evaluation of project costs and schedules with respect to industry norms and provides analysis to Project Managers, Capital Planning Managers, and Management.
  • Supports the preparation of monthly financial reports for projects and the overall project portfolio. Also prepares other financial analysis as required.
  • Assists Project Controls & Capital Planning groups in annual AOP process, managing systems & tools supporting group tasks.
  • Assists is addressing change management aspects of Grace Capital Management best practices.
  • Prior experience working as project cost engineer is required. Ideal candidate will have both cost & schedule experience supporting major construction projects though out the project life cycle (concept through completion – FEL 0 through Execution/start up).

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree is required and Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering degree is preferred; however, other related degree fields may be considered.
  • 10-15 year's relevant experience in a professional technical capacity involving cost controls supporting major construction projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Certification from AACE or PMI
  • Understands and can demonstrate how to break down work, sequence and plan it, and time-phase it so that it transforms ideas into completed facilities.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills and data analysis.
  • Understands and can apply accounting principles as they are used on capital projects.
  • Is proficient using Primavera, SAP, MS Office systems and other data management, accounting, or project management systems.  MS Power BI, Tableau, Oracle Analytics Cloud.
  • Demonstrated ability in planning, cost reporting and forecasting.
  • Ability to communicate critical path activities, risks, and project tracking metrics clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to manage the reporting and forecasting of a portfolio of many, simultaneous projects, globally.
  • Ability to consolidate data into key metrics and communicate them effectively.
