Job Description
The Market Intelligence Manager will contribute to Grace by providing insights and analytic vigor, while identifying growth opportunities to support the long-range strategic plan. With a rigorous discipline around market-level investigation and intelligence gathering, the Market Intelligence Manager works closely and partners with the Strategic and Regional Marketing teams, providing actionable insights on market dynamics and the competitive landscape in each of the regions we serve.
Responsibilities
• Increase Grace’s competitive knowledge with a clear target on impact building up-to-date intelligence on our market and competitors (with a strong analytical basis), including improving and maintaining our competitive landscapes and working with the marketing team on developing prospective insights to inform overall strategic agenda and new capability-building
• Escalate urgent developments as appropriate, and monitors trended growth performance in areas of competitive overlap and watch areas
• Provides strategic thought leadership on several aspects of market sensing and competitive intelligence to support/guide teams to help them develop appropriate intelligence on competitive situations and develop winning proposal strategies to support business growth. Develops a new competitive intelligence strategy by helping refine and grow global best practice sharing and knowledge transfer, provide common tools and templates, offer guidance on sources and processes, and manage a knowledge base of competitive information.
• Identifies and curates insights on competitors’ current offer strategies, product set and capabilities, offers and pricing, competitive positioning, construction/expansion activity, and other changes affecting market dynamics, performance, and share
• Maintains and regularly updates current, detailed reference materials for all competitors to inform and support marketing, sales, and product strategy
• Ensures market research investments are optimized to deliver maximum return. Manages third party service providers effectively in research field work
• Distills competitive insights and implications into clear and concise summaries which are presented to and discussed with Marketing leadership and Senior Executive leadership
• Plays a supporting role in the development of targeted competitive campaigns by providing basis for speed, pricing, production comparison claims
Required Qualifications
• 7+ years of relevant competitive intelligence or business analytics experience
• Bachelor's of Science degree
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, ability to organize data to tell a story
• Deep competency in research tools, methodology and techniques
• Excellent written and communication skills with proven ability to deliver high quality actionable intelligence to leaders
• Ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment
• Excellent flexibility and ability to handle multiple projects at once while prioritizing your time
• Entrepreneurial mindset to drive, refine and grow our global competitive intelligence function
• Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management and relationship - and network-building skills – in particular, be comfortable to act as a thought partner to senior leaders
• Proven ability to think strategically
• Strong learning agility
• Strong computer skills with a resourceful and curious mindset to effectively mine data relative to our markets
Preferred Qualifications
• MBA preferred
• B2B and/or specialty chemicals experience preferred
• Experience working with Power BI / data visualization tools and SFDC are highly desirable
