Job Description

The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for leading the organization which is responsible for assisting new UNIPOL® licensees in the design and construction phase through plant start up and continue to provide ongoing support post start up to new and existing licensees. The successful candidate is also a key member of the Licensing Leadership Team which develops and implements the strategy for the Licensing Business. Responsibilities include:

 

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Technology Licensing business strategy as a key member of the Licensing Leadership Team.
  • Leading the four MTMs who provide support to licensees beginning in the design & construction phase through plant start up and continue to provide ongoing support post start up to new and existing licensees.
  • Manage the spending for the group at or below the annual budget (~$3M per year)
  • Lead and oversee as a 2nd level supervisor the group of Manufacturing Specialists and Manufacturing Engineers (14 people) who provide plant commissioning and start up support, catalyst trials, operations training, and operations troubleshooting.
  • Lead as 2nd level supervisor on a dotted line basis the R&D Technician who supports licensee QC lab set up, training, and troubleshooting

 

Required Skills
  • BS engineering (preferably Chemical Engineering)
  • At least 15 years’ experience in petrochemical manufacturing, preferably polyolefins. UNIPOL® PP or UNIPOLTM PE experience a plus.
Required Experience
  • Experienced in leading teams of engineers and manufacturing specialists must have experience in people leadership, coaching, mentoring and technical guidance.
  • Experience in working directly with clients in some capacity.
  • Project and cost control experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recognized technical excellence in polyolefins manufacturing; experience in technology licensing

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to manage a staff

  • Organize and lead multiple simultaneous projects with widely varying objectives.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with persons of various occupational backgrounds, including operations, maintenance, engineering, marketing, legal, licensing clients, and management.
