Job Description
Grace is seeking a Manager, Legal Operations to join our Legal team as we grow and develop our organization to build a scalable platform for rapid organic and inorganic growth. This role reports to our Deputy General Counsel and is located in Columbia, MD.
The Manager, Legal Operations will be responsible for developing and improving operational strategies, capabilities and processes across the legal department to enable, encourage, and empower excellence and continuous improvement in the delivery and management of legal services. The Manager, Legal Operations will drive enhancement of organizational and technological capabilities to deliver superior productivity and performance for a rapidly growing company in a rapidly changing legal and commercial environment. In addition, the successful candidate will work closely with the Deputy GC on special projects.
Responsibilities
- Participate in strategic planning for legal department growth and development.
- Drive enhancement of legal department capability and operations to enable and ensure high quality, cost effective legal support.
- Drive process and technology improvements in the legal department to help improve efficiency and quality of legal services.
- Work with legal team to develop meaningful metrics and use data analytics to help assure continuous improvement in legal support.
- Lead and collaborate on projects within the legal department and enterprise-wide, from initiation to completion
- Identify and implement a contract management system for Grace.
- Develop and implement an effective system, approach and process for effective and efficient budget management and planning, including law firm and vendor management.
- Manage the global fee projection, budget, and accrual process in partnership with legal colleagues, law firm partners, and finance colleagues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Demonstrated proficiency and at least 3 years’ experience with budgeting, finance and systems
- Significant experience in implementation of technology solutions to maximize efficiencies in an organization
- Experience with managing significant projects, including preparing timelines, deliverables and meeting those requirements
- Strong people person with solid analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and a desire and commitment to “roll-up your sleeves.”
- Prior experience with developing and implementing work systems and processes.
- Strong system administration management skills or background.
- Expert at process improvement and developing a continuous improvement culture.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to compile and analyze complex legal and business information, determine costs/benefits, evaluate risks and provide resolutions or recommendations.
- Highly collaborative with the ability to influence without authority and build strong relationships within the legal department and the entire organization
- Excellent financial, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven self-starter, results-oriented, high-energy team player with demonstrated leadership skills who brings a positive, “can do” attitude to the workplace.
