Job Description

Provide management with the analytical and decision-making support necessary for effective operation of business worldwide. Perform economic research and studies of rates of return, deprecations, and investments.  Work closely with management to identify key financial risks and alternatives.  Logically organize, document and communicate conclusions of the analysis. Research and analyze economic and industry information relating to the performance of the industry worldwide.  Research major competitors and industry peers.  Analyze market share and financial performance. Take on special analytical tasks, such as modeling market growth, analyzing facilities location, evaluating sales force deployment alternatives.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead in preparation of major month-end close tasks, including analyzing SAP systems data, and reports from key team members for the Advanced Refining Technologies joint venture (“ART”) to ensure transactions are appropriately recorded in the proper period and in accordance with US GAAP. Includes adjustments to sales, AR/AP, COGS, inventory, and expense accounts. Requires working closely with ART Controller, operations, customer service, and plant controllers to obtain relevant information and conclude on proper accounting treatment.
  • Lead the preparation of the standalone audited financial statements for the joint venture and all supporting footnotes and serve as the primary point of contact for the external audit team. Includes preparation of all supporting documentation, management of drafts and review comments, and completion of external auditor support requests and inquiries for annual audit. Work closely with ART Controller and CFO throughout process.
  • Manage accounting for loans, including ART’s maintenance capital loan with Grace and credit arrangement with external lenders.  Includes calculating monthly funding amounts, interest payments, and coordinating the repayment of loan balances and interest among entities.
  • Lead in the preparation of the joint venture monthly financial packages, including analysis of large fluctuations between periods and variances between forecasted and actual data. Reporting packages are provided to ART CFO and the joint venture partners.
  • Present key data reflecting ART’s performance during quarterly Consolidated Balance Sheet Review meeting. Compile and analyze the underlying data driving discussion topics.
  • Prepare monthly Sales and Costing Files to calculate the revenue, cost, and margin to be transferred between ART entities. Requires working closely with ART Ops team to obtain materials production data to ensure current metals market rates are passed on to end customer through COGS, processing various accounting adjustments applicable to each sale (i.e. discounts, freight) and coordination with ART customer service team to ensure all sales are accurately included in correct period.
  • Review and validate monthly related party invoicing amongst ART entities and Grace to ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices between vendors.
  • Work closely with Chevron and CLG representatives to provide information on the joint venture’s financial performance, to initiate and settle payments between business partners, and investigate and respond to various ad hoc request and inquiries.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP with ability to research
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with internal business partners (ART operations and financial team, members of various teams at the Global Operations Center, plant operations, Corporate legal, etc.) and outside consultants (auditors, tax consultants, etc.)
  • BS degree in Accounting
  • 4+ years Big 4 public accounting experience or other relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA
  • SAP, SAC and BPC experience
