Job Description

Grace's product range serves customers in many phases of drug development. As a large scale manufacturer of chromatography resins, our DAVISIL® and VYDAC® media have been used to purify pharmaceutical products for over 40 years. The multi-functional benefits of our  SYLOID®  silica excipients help formulation scientists address challenges in drug manufacturing and protect pharmaceutical ingredients. As a TCS Manager you will take over a key role in ensuring and expanding our position as a leading supplier of silica products, which are used as functional additives and processing aids throughout the pharmaceutical, nutraceuticals and health care industry.

Purpose of Position:  

Responsible for leading and supporting a global team of TCS Managers in the application field of synthetic silica used in pharma as excipients, for moisture protection and for drug delivery as well as in food and nutraceuticals applications. The TCS Lead Pharma defines the work programs to optimize techniques and strategies to support the use of Grace Material Technologies  products at customers, increase product awareness in the market and to help position for use at prospects.


Managing the TCS Managers to ensure sufficient and effective technical support to sales, customers or potential customers and provide solutions to customer needs to deliver highest level of service

  • Support to build customer & prospect pipeline for GRACE pharma platform based on synthetic silica by engaging with customers, prospects, academia and other industry influencers, through webinars, meetings, at conferences or industrial events including preparation of presentations, publications
  • Coordinate lab application development work to promote GRACE silica products and key activities at global accounts
  • Ensuring all safety standards are adhered to by employees at all times
  • Work closely with TCS Managers to troubleshoot problems; provide product support to sales / marketing / customer
  • Train employees and customers regarding properties performance benefits and value of GRACE products through product presentations.
  • Provide input for development for technical literature
  • Provide oversight of technical support for production and quality control
  • Based on customer interactions and industry insights, determine customer needs (current/future), evaluate industry trends and competitive products. Transfer and communicate this information to the GRACE internal functions (R&D, Sales and Marketing teams) to contribute to develop innovative products and improvements for existing products.
  • Represent the company at conferences and tradeshows
  • Work closely with TCS Director to implement best practice standards and tools
  • Monitor the regulatory requirements and drive the actions for GRACE products to comply
  • Run customer and internal quality audits
  • 35% of travel required

Required Skills

  • Deep understanding of the process and application of Materials Technologies pharma, excipients & drug delivery

Required Experience

  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in pharma or Ph.D. in chemistry
  • 7 – 10 years of experience working in pharma environment
  • Knowledge of pharma manufacturing regulations (FDA, EMA, GMP)
  • 3 years of managing teams / labs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Pharma
  • Experience in the excipients field is a plus
  • Language skills: English; German a plus
