Job Description
Grace is seeking a Global Director, Technical Services to join our Specialty Catalyst business unit and will report to the VP of Global Sales. The role may be located our of our corporate headquarters in Columbia, MD or out of Houston, TX.
The Global Director will work in close collaboration with a customer interfacing team and the Grace marketing, R&D, and sales teams. This position will lead a global team of 10 highly qualified Technical Service Engineers / Managers in commercializing products across the Polyolefin and Chemical Catalyst portfolio with the objective of achieving profitable growth. This position will create a culture of customer value creation in the global technical services team and is pivotal in delivering customer value through disciplined technology delivery. This role has direct influence on revenue and EBITDA growth, new product introductions, and market share gain.
Responsibilities
Business leadership:
- Trial governance process to effectively convert customers to established or new catalyst offerings
- Develops customer value propositions from catalyst trials
People leadership:
- Developing and executing the technical services hiring plan to ensure a balanced skill set across the team both by process technology and region to meet business goals
- Articulating personnel skill development plans to increase the capacity of the team and offer career opportunities for enhanced bench strength and employee satisfaction
Innovation:
- Leading all technical implementation efforts for the commercialization of new products
- Supporting marketing and R&D efforts to develop product concepts in early PrISM (innovation stage gate) stages to guide the development work
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or Material Science
- 20+ years of experience in the petrochemicals sector or related value chain
- Experience in Project management and data analytics
- Financial, marketing tools and strategy development knowledge
- Familiar with the polyolefins market (applications, competitive offerings, competition profile, market trends …)
- Demonstrated customer interface experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in science or engineering desirable
- Strong technical understanding of polyolefins components and catalyst technologies
