Job Description

  • Drive Grace wide application of Lean and Six Sigma principles into our daily work processes.
  • Implement, measure and sustain an enterprise lean six sigma culture.
  • Develop plant CI functions to execute strategies and plans designed to reduce waste within the facilities. Responsibilities include staffing and developing talent for up to 20 CI managers and facilitators.
  • Utilize performance management, problem solving, and lean / six sigma tools as well as training, coaching, and influence skills to achieve specific organizational change and financial objectives.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities, execute against those opportunities, and successfully realize sustained quantifiable benefits.
  • Develop and maintain strong positive business relationships with key internal clients to clearly understand their business processes and the development / articulation of short & long-term business objectives.
  • Integrate basics / points of emphasis from Environmental, Safety and Health program into improvement projects and kaizens.
  • Define the business case for the projects that have been proposed and validate the opportunity scope and importance of a project.
  • Build out Hoshin Kanri / Policy Deployment methodology ensuring identified projects align with business goals and that highest priority projects are worked on first.
  • Build, mobilize, and lead cross departmental project teams to meet the project objectives within the given time frame and within budget.
  • Update and maintain the status of projects in the project database and establish key measures of success for projects by implementing tracking plans.
  • Facilitate meetings, kaizen events, and workshops to solve urgent business needs.
  • Use Lean / Six Sigma approach to understand current processes, identify impacts to current processes of proposed defect fixes, or system enhancements and work with the various stakeholders to propose and develop process and/or technology modifications.
  • Gather, collect, organize, prioritize, conduct statistical analysis, and present data concerning business and/or project opportunities.
  • Teach, mentor, and coach Green Belts and Lean Experts on how to apply the appropriate Lean / Six Sigma roadmaps and tools to a range of improvement projects.

  • Proven track record of delivering results in a high-performance / high-expectation Continuous Improvement environment through implementation of and expertise with the latest Lean Management Methods supporting the manufacturing of automotive components.
  • Demonstrated competency in development and execution of strategy on a global basis.
  • A mindset that balances both thought and innovation with direct and successful execution is critical.
  • Ability to view the business from a broader perspective, integrating finance and operational issues to develop insight and solutions to improve performance on key business drivers.
  • Software applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Mintab, etc.

Required Experience

  • BS in Chemical or Mechanical engineering, or related engineering degree is generally required and highly preferred. Master’s Degree in Business, Management or related field is preferred.   
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and familiarity with, a variety of TPS/Lean Sigma tools, such as: VSM, Standard Work, Pull Systems & Kanban, SIOP, Lean Daily Management, 5S/Visual Management, SMED, TPM, Variation Reduction Kaizen & Six Sigma
  • 50% + of domestic and international travel to plant sites and customer locations. 
  • 10 – 12 + years of successful implementation of strategic business projects and programs organizational effectiveness interventions, post-merger-integration programs, international business experience and progressive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English with German) a plus.
  • Master Black Belt preferred.
