Job Description
We are hiring an Engineering and Financial Portfolio Senior Manager, who will report to the Director, Corporate Development. who will be part of the Corporate Development team. The successful candidate will be based at our corporate headquarters in Columbia MD and engage with various stakeholders within our Capital Planning team, along with Engineering Project Managers, FP&A, Marketing, and Legal. As the Senior Manager, you will own the capital planning process, be responsible for managing the portfolio of capital projects across the company and provide recommendations for prioritizing all capex during the long-range and annual planning processes.
This position will work at our corporate headquarters in Columbia, MD with a hybrid work schedule - 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. Relocation assistance will be offered.
Responsibilities
- Recommend prioritization of capex portfolio for the company.
- Own methodology to establish prioritization and ensure understanding across the company.
- Create analytical models as a basis for comparing like investments (quantitative, qualitative, and any other key considerations).
- Create pipeline model to forecast future capex requirements based on expected advancement rates through the stage gate process.
- Monitor pipeline to identify when it is out of balance relative to investment objectives.
- Establish process for validation stage gate to assess investments vs. approved business cases and document lessons learned.
- Provide independent assessment and review of select business cases.
- Works with engineering project teams and finance to create KPI’s to be published monthly.
- Tactically manage annual budgets for strategic capital expenditures and provide oversight in collaboration with other capital budget managers, for the entire capital budget.
- Demonstrate high level of flexibility to meet the changing needs of the business globally.
- Work collaboratively with Grace’s Finance, Manufacturing Excellence, Project Engineering, EHS, Productivity, and Reliability and Maintenance teams.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in an Engineering discipline, Mechanical or Chemical highly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience to include capital project management experience, specifically early phase capital project development (FEL0 - 1)
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
- Ability to create new methods and tools to increase effectiveness.
- Ability to lead change, with ability to influence and gain support from operator level to executive leadership
- Ability to lead projects with multiple stakeholders and align their objectives to meet project milestones
- Strong interpersonal, communications and presentation skills
- Strong business acumen.
- Strong financial knowledge and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience in corporate role working across multiple business units.
- Excellent teamwork and ability to work across business functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience in the Chemicals industry or other capex intensive manufacturing companies.
- Experience managing global capital projects.
- Knowledge and experience with Accolade.
