Grace is hiring an Electrical Technician to work at our Columbia, MD campus where we have office buildings, numerous labs, and a pilot plant. You will participate in a variety of tasks that include installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. You will oversee and supervise contractors and vendors. In addition, you will ensure the fire alarms are maintained in accordance with standards and codes, and gas detection/gas sensors are properly calibrated and maintained.   
 

 

We offer flexible work hours, with 7am-4pm as highly preferred. Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, as needed. 


 

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical fixtures, wiring, and building systems on adhering to all state, local and company code and safety policies.
  • Perform electrical systems testing to ensuring proper installation and operation.
  • Assist in supervision of electrical contractors.
  • Assist in coordination and communication of electrical shutdowns.
  • Knowledge of explosion proof wiring methods and connections of electrical systems to powerlines, providing electricity to buildings.
  • Observe installed systems to detect hazards and determine the need for modifications. Recommend necessary electrical repairs.
  • Maintain shop material inventory.
  • Complete all required safety forms.
  • Replace conduit, wiring, breakers, and other electrical components as needed
  • Determine campus electrical hazards. Safely isolate, lock and tagout circuits and equipment to enable troubleshooting and repairs.

Required Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to see different colors to discern color-coded wiring.
  • 5+ years’ electrical experience working industrial or commercial environment with experience in troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and maintenance of industrial control systems
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and related codes
  • Knowledge of electrical wiring and related code
  • Ability to read drawings and schematics 
  • Ability to use hand and power tools related to the electrical installation. 
  • Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in using computer software, (ARC Facilities, Limble CMMS, SAP Ariba or related)
     

Physical Requirements

Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials
Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials

Preferred Qualifications

  • Apprentice or Journeyman’s license
  • Knowledge of electronics and instrumentation.
  • Experience with PLC
