Job Description

Grace has an exciting opportunity for a EHSSQ Assurance Specialist. The primary location listed is flexible.  This role can be located at various Grace locations but preferable in the Columbia, MD or Houston, TX area. This role reports to the Director of Global Operational Risk and EHS Assurance.  This role has global responsibility to design and execute internal assurance activities (i.e., audits) that evaluate application of Grace’s Process Safety, EHS, Security and Quality standards, management systems and EHSS legal/regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, plans, and executes EHSSQ integrated audits
  • Participates on EHSSQ Integrated audits in one or more EHSS or process safety focus areas  
  • Acts as the corporate EHSSQ Integrated audit facilitator (lead) during audits
  • Coaches auditors (full and part-time) on audit techniques and methods of analysis, and aids audit teams as necessary 
  • Supports development and execution of internal auditor training
  • Maintains auditing tools (e.g., audit checklists and protocols)
  • Works with Grace sites and organizations to track and close audit actions
  • Tracks and trends audit report output, including trend reporting through key performance indicators
  • Evaluates audit findings across the company to proactively identify risks and effectively develop value added recommendations for improvement as well as knowledge of company strategy
  • Periodically develops audit program summary reports for Grace leadership
  • Proactively and effectively communicates audit trends and best practices to audit partners, and provides advisory and consultancy support for process changes 
  • Proactively builds strategic partnerships with functional, business, and regional leaders
  • Leads and supports other EHSS/improvement projects as assigned by management  

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering/Science, Safety Management, or related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of process safety, EHSS, or other similar manufacturing related experience 
  • Relevant EHSSQ auditing experience, including scheduling, planning and execution
  • Sufficient EHS auditing experience to lead/facilitate global EHSSQ Assurance audits
  • Experience leading, planning, organizing and executing global EHSS or process safety audits
  • Ability to communicate complex EHSSQ issues to broad group of stakeholders
  • Operational and Technical Acumen to positively influence EHS commitment to Goal Zero
  • Strong collaboration and conflict resolution skill
  • Travel 50-70% 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as a professional auditor for EHS or process safety (e.g., CPSA, CPEA, etc.)
  • Chemical, petrochemical, or oil and gas experience, including 2 years in a manufacturing plant environment
