Job Description

W. R. Grace & Co.’s EHS-Legal group seeks an experienced, organized, and detail-oriented paralegal to support its environmental legal work at its corporate headquarters in Columbia, MD. As a key member of the team, you will work alongside Grace’s in-house counsel to support the business on environment, health, safety, product stewardship, and remediation matters. You will review environmental documents, agreements, and contracts; participate in due diligence reviews; and otherwise support the EHS-Legal team. You will also help with the development and implementation of processes for efficient and streamlined operations of the EHS Legal team.


  • Maintain an electronic file system for efficient document retrieval and development
  • Manage contracts and invoices with outside counsel
  • Maintain records and organize materials in an efficient legal filing system as well as in onsite and offsite document repositories
  • Perform legal and general research
  • Prepare first drafts of correspondence
  • Support dynamic team of EHS-lawyers

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a paralegal at a law firm or in-house legal department or other comparable experience
  • Strong research, analytical, writing, and communication skills, as well as superior attention to detail
  • Ability to work quickly and independently, with strong problem-solving, organizational and project management skills to balance multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, business partners, and outside counsel, as well as work independently
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Westlaw, and online free legal research tools
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new subjects and technologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and familiarity with environmental regulatory documents
  • Paralegal certificate preferred
