Job Description

The Global Director of Operational Risk and EHSSQ Assurance will define W.R. Grace’s strategy with respect to Operational Risk, EHSSQ Assurance, and an operations integrated management system.      The role is accountable for leading the execution of this strategy, strong collaboration with Global Operations and other functions, enabling a step-change in our approach in reducing and managing Operational Risk, while driving strong operational discipline enabling strong EHSSQ performance.

This position will be focused on developing operational risk strategies, risk measures, and plans to continuously improve while reducing and managing operation risk.   This position is also accountable to develop the system and implementation strategy for a comprehensive operations integrated management system.  This leader will also work with Global Operations and Legal in designing and developing an improved EHSSQ Assurance system for regulatory compliance, operations integrated management system and other internal procedures.   The role will also work close with corporate finance in overseeing the execution of the external insurance risk assessment process for all Grace facilities.

This leader will drive utilization and improve systems, tools and processes to address critical gaps when they exist. This position will facilitate the development, implementation and/or maintenance of our policies, practices, and systems, and foster implementation by all leaders and employees in the organization, particularly in working closely with Global Operations   The chosen candidate will bring subject matter expertise to the organization, help develop core competencies within the Global Operations, EHSSQ and other functional organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing an operational risk, operational integrated management system, and improved EHSSQ assurance system for the organization.  The insurance assessment program will include an analysis of the financial impact on the company when risks occur
  • Develops, monitors and revises Operational Risk plan, operations integrated management system process owner, EHSSQ assurance plan, insurance assessment plan and emergency response plan.
  • Advance maturity of Responsible Care Management System
  • Performing EHSSQ and insurance assessments: Analyzing current operating risks and identifying potential risks that could affect the company.
  • Effectively communicate overall risk and EHSSQ and insurance assurance / assessment results.
  • Building risk awareness amongst staff by providing support and training within the company
  • Key contributor to Grace Enterprise Risk Management Committee
  • Partner closely with Integrated Supply Chain, and Business leaders across Grace to advance our risk and continuity agenda

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in, Engineering
  • Advanced business or technical degree preferred.
  • 15+ years’ experience in Operations Leadership, EHSSQ Leadership, Auditing and or Risk Management
  • Excellent communication, leadership, collaboration and change management skills.
  • Willing to travel 25 to 50%
