Director, Data Integrity and Governance

Job Description

We're hiring a Director, Data Integrity and Governance that will lead and manage all organization-wide master data governance activities and will have responsibility for improving the data literacy, quality, and governance of enterprise data.  The position will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework and for operationalizing Master Data Management, Data Access, and other data policies, standards, and practices, both at the department and Business and Functional area levels, to achieve the required level of understanding, consistency, quality, and protection to meet overall business needs. This position will operate from the corporate headquarters in Columbia, MD on a hybrid schedule in office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and optional in-office or remote for Tuesdays and Fridays. 

The role will partner closely with Data Owners/Product Owners, Information Technologies, Sr. Director, Center of Excellence, Business partners, Functional partners, to understand the business’s strategic vision, advise in the use of data to drive insights and help in achieving business outcomes. The Data Management & Governance Director will collaborate across Business, Global Operations, IT teams and Functional areas to ensure governance, data quality and data life cycle management.  This role is accountable for the delivery of the master data governance roadmap including improving the quality of core data assets, addressing regulatory requirements, and supporting the strategic requirements of the department.

Responsibilities

Data Integrity and Governance Management:

• Own, develop, evolve, and clearly communicate the Grace Data Integrity & Governance vision, mission, and purpose.
• Working collaboratively with key stakeholders such as IT and the business functions, develop a roadmap, investment plan and corresponding business cases and implementation plans to meet the needs of Grace’s current and future Information Management and Analytics needs.
• Establish and govern an enterprise master data governance roadmap including strategic priorities for development of information-based capabilities.
• Establish the vision for managing master data as a business asset.  Develop methods to ensure ‘single source of truth’ for key data attributes that will provide consistency across all business unit processes.
• Develop standards, policies, and procedures to support the creation of a master data governance policy within the business.  Provide technical assurance for the on-going implementation and maintenance of the governance policy.

People Management:

• Leads a team of 5 Master Data Governance Analysts and a data entry team in Manila
• Organize and lead a data governance council to provide leadership and sponsorship for and oversight of governance policy creation and compliance.
• Lead and develop teams across Grace to ensure data governance policies and practices are embedded throughout the company.
• Drive accountability by establishing a robust data quality and governance measurement framework.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, data science, information science or related field, OR equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years progressive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
• Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes, and information strategies, and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards.
• Experience with developing and implementing Data Governance Frameworks and engaging with business and IT leadership to establish Data Governance Councils and Data Stewardship networks.
• Experience setting-up data management/data governance policies, procedures, and standards, developing data dictionaries, business glossaries, taxonomies.
• Experience with establishing and managing data related issue resolution processes including SLA performance metrics. 
• Ability to travel up to 10% of time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SAP MDG (Master Data Governance)
• Knowledge of SAP ecosystem and corresponding master data requirements including customers, vendors, business partners, materials, BOMs, routings, recipes, and finance objects.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the following: data structure, information systems/tools, related software and data management, enterprise content management, and record-keeping policies and practices in a complex organizational environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise B2B business processes and resultant information needs.
