Job Description

 

The Business Analysis Manager proactively supports the Business Management team by developing and utilizing analytical tools and metrics to drive overall profitability for all business segments within his / her assigned business unit.    

Reporting to the Vice President, Business Management, the Business Analysis Manager provides short- and medium-term analysis and insight on revenue/order execution, price analytics, EBITDA, Cash-flow and overall business performance.  Further, the Business Analysis Manager will own the Customer Product Profitability tool for the business, using it to drive price initiatives, portfolio optimization, productivity initiatives, and product life cycle decisions.  The Business Analysis Manager will also own analytics around long range supply/capacity planning and will manage business cases for strategic growth capital investments.

Responsibilities

•    Working with Finance & Accounting to ensure the Profit & Loss Statements (P&L’s) and Cash-flows for the Asset Teams is an accurate reflection of business performance (i.e. EBITDA, Cash-flow, Return on Invested Capital)

•    Own pricing governance and analytics.  Develop metrics and visualization tools to demonstrate pricing realization vs. plan, gaps to plan, mix updgrade opportunities, and new pricing opportunities.  Ensure compliance with pricing DOA process.

•    Own and operate the CPP profitability tool for the Business Management team.  Utilize the tool to develop insights and identify opportunities for profit enhancement through price, portfolio optimization, productivity, customer / segment mix upgrade, and product life cycle actions.  Use the CPP and visualization tools to

support the actions and initiatives of the Product Managers and the broader Business Management team.

•    Develop and maintain the financial business cases for strategic capital.  Develop tools to drive prioritization of strategic capital based on profitability and overall strategic direction.  Measure business unit’s demonstrated ability to meet capital business cases after capital investment. Rank strategic capital requests by standard financial metrics including IRR, NPV, Pay-Back, & Discounted Pay-Back

•    Support Product Management with ad hoc sales and pricing data and profitability analysis requests. 

•    Engage in process and system improvement projects around SAP analytics tools, CPP, and profitability KPIs.

•    Actively participate as needed in global and regional meetings (monthly / quarterly) for the below global leadership team activities

 

Required Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field

•    Basic understanding of financial statements (i.e. P&L, Balance Sheet, & Cash-flow)

•    Fluent in English spoken & written.

•    2+ years in analytics, sales support, order fulfilment, finance, economics, supply chain, or other relevant business roles 

•    Proven business process improvement skills.

•    Demonstrated proficiency in at least one of the following tools, and a strong desire to learn the others: Salesforce CRM, SAP, Business Analytics, and Microsoft Excel.

•    Experience of working in a multicultural environment in an international organization. Experience working with teams in different time zones is desired

Preferred Qualifications

•    Chemical or other manufacturing industry experience is highly desirable

•    Experiencing working within systems and tools (i.e. SAP, Salesforce, Cost Tools, Microsoft Excel, & Other databases)

•    Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and a passion for results and process improvement.

•    Strong analytical skills, with an ability to derive insights from data through visualization to tell a cohesive story and make a recommendation

•    Proactive individual who takes ownership to resolve problems and influence change

•    Demonstrated ability to manage complexity

•    Process oriented and highly organized, with high attention to detail and accuracy.

•    Demonstrated business and financial acumen

•    Sense of urgency and bias towards action.

•    Performs effectively under pressure and in conditions of ambiguity.

•    Ability to lead/manage within a matrix organization.

•    Strong communication skills with the ability to develop documentation and facilitate/lead discussions with senior leaders.
