Job Description

W.R. Grace seeks an Industrial Electrician for the Chicago 71st site.  This the primary functions of this position is to work safely, and provide industrial electrical service to the manufacturing operation.  


  • Comply with all EHS and process safety standards and procedures.  Report hazards, deviations, and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and quality standards as well as participate in quality and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to troubleshoot process control and electrical systems, including motors, VFDs, control loops, PLC, and DCS systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical distribution systems, such as trip relays, MCC’s, disconnects, feeders, etc.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and usage of tools and testing equipment.
  • Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance as required to maintain equipment in optimal condition.
  • Ability to perform and diagnose thermal scans to determine hot spots and corrective actions.
  • Utilizes diagrams, blueprints, and other drawings for electrical troubleshooting purposes.
  • Familiarity with NEC and NFPA 70E standards.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with a minimum 3 years of related experience working with commercial or industrial instrumentation OR a minimum 3 years of related experience working as a commercial or industrial electrical technician.
  • Academic degree in related technology is a plus OR documentation supporting completion of acceptable training for an electrician such as a journeyman program, trade school, or qualified in-house program.
  • Self-motivated individuals with strong problem-solving skills capable of effectively and efficiently troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret schematics, control loop drawings, P&ID’s and other technical resource manuals.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations and conversions. 
  • Able to communicate effectively to functional levels within the organization.
  • Able to use electrical measuring and testing equipment for electrical troubleshooting purposes.
