Job Description

We’re adding to our current staff and hiring an Environmental Coordinator for our 71st Chicago manufacturing site where you’ll help support our operations within our Advanced Refining Technologies (ART) business where we produce inorganic chemical catalysts used in th petroleum refining and specialty petrochemical industries. You will report to the Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability Manager and focus on 3 main areas; Environmental Excellence, Environmental Compliance and Manufacturing Support, details below:

 

Environmental Excellence

  • Support and develop environmental excellence programs, partnering with the Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Logistics teams.
  • Lead environmental programs that support Responsible Care Management System certification

Environmental Compliance

  • Responsible for implementation and administration of programs that ensure compliance with the site’s Title V permit, including monitoring, reporting, and auditing
  • Responsible for implementation and administration of all environmental media compliance programs

Manufacturing Support

  • Support plant operations regarding environmental excellence and compliance
  • Ensure Operations and Maintenance teams have the tools and training needed to operate compliantly with environmental excellence
  • Perform periodic field auditing to ensure a safe clean and compliant operation

Required Skills

  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job to include moving in and around the plant, climbing, lifting, crawling, kneeling
  • Computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of Illinois EPA’s Tiered Approach to Corrective Action Objectives
  • Knowledge of US environmental laws (CAA, RCRA, CWA, SDWA, CERCLA, TSCA, DOT)
  • Knowledge of ERP, SAP preferred
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply information on State and Federal technical guidance and regulations
  • Experience managing waste programs and required facility training
  • Ability to reconcile documentation for environmental activities
  • Ability to coordinate and oversee waste and water sampling activities and coordinate testing with outside laboratories
  • Must be able to coordinate implementation of the SPCC program (spill responses)
  • Must be able to respond to onsite incidents that can occur after hours and on weekend

Required Experience

  • B.S. degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering Preferred) or Environmental-related field
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing industry, petro-chemcial preferred, performing environmental related activities to include environmental excellence and compliance programs

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• P.E. license in Illinois
