Job Description

We are hiring Senior Data Engineer to be part of the India Digital Operations Center and will be responsible for ingesting, cleaning, contextualizing and maintaining architectures across the data lakes and databases that will drive improvement in Grace manufacturing capabilities across the world. The position is responsible for developing data set processes for data modeling, mining, and production. Critical to success will also be requirements for the person to recommend ways to improve data quality, reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Understand business use of data and stakeholder requirements to support work processes and strategic business objectives.
  • Leverage data, software engineering, and data science techniques to create business value through data accessibility. Includes data ingestion, data preparation and analytics processing.
  • Build and maintain efficient data pipelines that allow the data scientists/ analysts to perform their work including maintaining key databases.
  • Identify, design, and implement operational improvements for process automation and optimized data delivery.
  • Identify, acquire, cleanse & prepare, store data and develop data products aligned with defined architecture patterns.
  • Responsible for normalizing and ingesting data from multiple sources
  • Manage processes and systems to supervise data quality, ensuring production accuracy

Required Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills needed to manage and collaborate with multiple internal resources within the Grace organization
  • Ability to quickly learn details of Grace’s chemical processes and identify the impact of automation improvements on the cost, quality, and safety of the manufacturing operation

Required Experience

  • Knowledge and/or experience with data acquisition, preparation and validation; data movement and transformation; big data computing; cloud computing, core data architecture; information security technologies and software engineering using technologies such as
  • Experience with cloud environments: data lake, data warehousing, Google Cloud preferred.
  • Expertise with relational databases (MS SQL, Oracle) data modeling languages (Python, SQL) and data integration services
  • Familiar with big data
  • Familiar with agile methods

Required Qualifications

BS in Engineering (Chemical) with minimum of 5 years prior experience as Data Engineer level role or BS in Computer Science with minimum of 5 years prior experience in Chemical Manufacturing
