Job Description

The Chattanooga, Tn location is looking for a Raney Operations Supervisor to join our dynamic team.

The Chattanooga plant is a leading global supplier of catalysts and other products and services to petroleum refiners; catalysts for the manufacture of plastics; silica-based engineered and specialty materials for a wide-range of industrial applications; specialty chemicals, additives and materials for commercial and residential construction; and, sealants and coatings for food packaging.  The site is currently accepting resumes for the Raney Operations Supervisor position.

  • Conducts regular area tours to engage each team member, address performance and resolve issues, ensure cleanliness and 5S of area, and conduct safety inspections
  • Manages/prioritizes schedule breaks and changes to daily work assignments
  • Manages operator accountability through coaching and performance management
  • Reviews previous days performance and updates operations lead of issues and actions
    • Communicates w/ caustic suppliers and/or sodium aluminate customers if planned schedules need to be adjusted
  • Track and monitor Raney KPI’s/metrics (production rates (alloy, crush, grind, activation, fixed bed), process yields, material usage efficiency (nitrogen consumption, argon consumption, dust/baghouse generation, etc.)  and reviews with production engineer
  • Weekly visual inventory of raw materials and packaging to ensure adequate supply for upcoming production
  • Participates in weekly production planning meetings
    • From planned schedule forecasts 50% caustic needs (volume and frequency) and Sodium Aluminate shipment needs (volume and frequency) and coordinates w/suppliers/customers
  • Maintain running inventory list of available, excess inventory that can be blended into production (excess powder, off spec blendable finished goods, slow moving/expired finished goods) and coordinate consumption with operations lead during weekly production planning meetings.
  • Conduct monthly physical counts for month end closing
  • Identifies employee training/circuit gaps and facilitates employee training with coordination of operations lead and production engineer
  • Cover site foreman responsibilities for entire site as needed (covering foreman vacations, extended leaves, training requirements, etc.)

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels within the organization
  • Organized and detail oriented, particularly with regard to maintaining records
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and SAP.
  • Ability to work safely in a chemical plant envrirnoment and understand chemical process equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years of manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Associate degree in a technical field is preferred
  • Previous experience in leadership role is preferred
