Job Description

The Chattanooga plant is a leading global supplier of catalysts and other products and services to petroleum refiners; catalysts for the manufacture of plastics; silica-based engineered and specialty materials for a wide-range of industrial applications; specialty chemicals, additives and materials for commercial and residential construction; and, sealants and coatings for food packaging.  The site is currently accepting resumes for a Process Engineer.

 

The Process Engineer will have responsibility for improving plant processes, which include Raney, Chemical Catalysts, DESOX, Rare Earth-FCC, Rare Earth-Merchant, and DeSox. Provide engineering support for maintenance, EH&S, and quality improvements. Supervises capital projects and contractor workforces associated with these projects.

 

 

Key Responsibilities; 

 

  • Process and quality support and troubleshooting for plant processes. ISO QC follow-up and support.  Assist in Mechanical Integrity effort
  • BFD, PFD, Mass & Energy Balance & P&ID preparation and updates for new and existing processes. Engineering, estimating, bidding and supervising capital projects
  • Conduct hazard reviews, PSSRs using OSHA PSM guidelines and follow-up. Assist in Mechanical Integrity effort
  • Lean six sigma knowledge and experience – Green Belt preferred
  • Able to use DCS and obtain data as needed to support above tasks
  • Has financial responsibility for capital projects assigned to them as project manager 

Required Qualifications

  • Aptitude and experience in distributive control systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels within the organization
  • Adept at training others
  • Able to distill complex information and present clearly
  • Organized and detail oriented, particularly with regard to maintaining records
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and SAP.
  • Ability to work safely in a chemical plant environment and work with / on typical chemical process equipment

Required Education/Experience

  • BS in Chemical Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in a chemical processing plant
