We’re hiring a Maintenance Engineer for our Chattanooga, TN manufacturing site. Relocation assistance available.

 

 

At this site we produce FCC intermediate Rare Earth products; FCC additives; Raney® metal catalysts in granular, activated slurry and activated granular forms; several forms of solid support activators; and several other low volume specialty products. As a Maintenance Engineer you will be a member of the Maintenance and Engineering team. You will be responsible for maintaining all plant equipment in a manner that allows production to maximize its usage, through effective preventive and predictive maintenance techniques, including automated vibration monitoring, thermal imaging, and lubrication analysis. There may be occasional overtime (nights, weekend) required to address ad-hoc issues. 
 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the plant’s critical equipment list, equipment asset lists, develop PM plans and manage the associated spare inventory requirements in SAP
  • Manage capital and maintenance projects as assigned by the Maintenance and Engineering Manager. Responsibilities include, safety, scope development, planning/scheduling, engineering, procurement, budgeting, field construction management and start-up.
  • Provide Technical support as needed to the maintenance department in solving routine maintenance issues
  • Manage mechanical and electrical contracts as required for above descriptions
  • Manage annual maintenance agreements with contractors in the following areas:  Forklifts, HVAC, Plumbing, Boiler and Wastewater Treatment, Natural Gas Systems, and State Inspectors for Boilers and Pressure Vessels
  • Works with Safety Department to adequately maintain the scrap material generated by the plant
  • Support and maintain maintenance work management process using computer-based tools to track metrics such as uptime, percent reactive work, PM compliance PLAS (Production, Loss, Accounting System), and equipment “bad actors”
  • Manage site’s maintenance and utilities budgets
  • Lead root cause analysis studies to identify sources of failures and downtime, and associated CA/PA (Corrective Action/Preventative Action) follow-up activities
  • EHS support for PHA’s to ensure plant designs are safe and entering incident reports based on field findings and housekeeping audits

 

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering,
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience working in a chemical processing plant
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment (leading and participating)
  • Ability to analyze data and translate into making decisions and executing solutions.
  • Proficient in an ERP, SAP highly preferred
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of maintenance supervisory experience 
  • Experience with SAP’s Maintenance Management module
