Job Description

We’re hiring a Reliability Engineer for our Baton Rouge, LA site who will report to the Maintenance and Mechanic Leader. You will lead the development and implementation of our Reliability Excellence components and identify, monitor and maintain maintenance department key performance indicators (KPI’s). This position offers a 9-80 work schedule and requires the ability to climb ladders and stairs throughout the site. Additional responsibilities include:


  • Perform RCFA’s to ensure long term maintenance equipment problems are appropriately investigated with solutions implemented
  • Identify, initiate, coordinate, and complete maintenance and reliability improvements and assist maintenance personnel by troubleshooting and resolving equipment problems
  • Proactively identify development opportunities to build reliability expertise and provide independent quality control of in house and outside contract services
  • Review major purchases and capital projects to optimize life cycle costs and provide input into capital budget to drive improved reliability
  • Optimize existing equipment PMs and help create PMs for new equipment
  • Work with corporate reliability leader to develop site maintenance excellence and reliability plan  
  • Assist in maintaining data management program documentation and participate regulatory audits
  • Assist in maintaining and improving the site’s mechanical integrity program
  • Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations
  • Systematically define, design, develop, monitor and refine an asset maintenance plan that includes value-added preventive maintenance tasks, effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
  • Provide input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related, and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operation

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of industry best practice related to rotating and fixed equipment design and knowledge of Engineering codes and standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, etc
  • Knowledge of applicable engineering calculations such as pressure vessel code calcs and fitness for service evaluations
  • Understand and/or perform FMEA, CA (Criticality Analysis), Root-cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA)
  • Strong communication skills to include ability to work and engage with different levels of staff and stakeholders
  • Proactive problem-solving approach and able to meet strict deadlines and proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Required Experience

  • BS in ME highly preferred, may consider other Engineering disciplines based on experience
  • 4 + years’ experience that includes troubleshooting rotating and fixed equipment; reliability & maintenance improvements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a Process Safety Management (PSM) related to mechanical integrity 
  • Knowledge of data analysis techniques that can include: Statistical Process Control, Reliability modeling and prediction, along with proficiency with SAP
