Job Description

We’re hiring a Project Engineer to join our onsite capital engineering team at our Baton Rouge, LA manufacturing plant. You will report to the Site Maintenance and Engineering Manager and be involved with full life cycle project management of our capital projects that include EHS, maintenance and reliability-related that are instrumental for our long-term growth and sustainability.

 

 

Our ideal candidate will be self-motivated and be able to share best practices in project management with a focus on continuous improvement and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure projects being managed and executed are per the Grace Project Management (GPM) system using sound engineering principles and are in accordance with national codes and standards as well as local PSM and Responsible Care procedures and standards.
  • Directs and assists with the development of capital estimates for construction and/or installation of new equipment and prepares the Capital Authorization Requests (CAR’s).
  • Directs the design effort of external engineering design firms for the assigned capital. projects, considering the needs / desires of the EHS, Operations and Maintenance groups.
  • Responsible for managing the budget and scope and schedule of assigned capital projects.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of engineering, material and equipment specifications for use in designing projects and equipment.  Also assists with the development and maintenance of procedures and standards governing site capital execution.
  • Drive EHS performance for continuous improvements within the engineering department.

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

Required Qualifications

  • BS Degree in an Engineering discipline  
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing and/or project execution
  • 2+ years’ experience in project engineering  
  • Proficient using Excel
  • Candidate must be motivated to improve their project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with a stage gate FEL project execution process
  • Previous experience in a maintenance or discipline design role 
  • SAP experience
  • MS Project
