Job Description
Grace is hiring a Process Technology (PT) Engineer to join our Specialty Catalyst Process Technology team.
The PT Engineer provides scale-up and technical support for product development and commercialization. They also support the optimization and cost-savings efforts and will leverage your technical expertise to solve complex problems.
The Process Technology Engineer is on-site in Baton Rouge, LA and reports to the Process Technology Manager.
Responsibilities
- Work safely in an industrial atmosphere and champion a strong safety culture
- Develop and implement projects to increase plant productivity, decrease production costs, and improve overall EHS performance
- Work closely with process chemists to drive continuous improvement
- Provide support for production campaigns by conducting appropriate Process Hazards Analysis, compilation of technical documentation, and direct unit support
- Own commercialization process by completing technology transfers to drive products to routine operation
- Assist in troubleshooting requests from manufacturing team in support of commercial products
- Lead start-up and commissioning efforts
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering
Physical Requirements and Environment
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection
- Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, high temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
Preferred Qualifications
- Chemical and/or petro-chemical experience
- Co-op or internship experience
- Sig Sigma Certification, Education or experience in statistics
- Experience with Minitab or other statistical software
- Experience demonstrating time management skills and attention to detail
- Experience taking the initiative, being self-motivated and working independently
- Experience collaborating with team members and cross-functionally
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
