Job Description

Grace is seeking a Lab Coordinator to join our Specialty Chemical Manufacturing team! This role reports to Quality Manager located at Baton Rouge, LA. 
The purpose of this position is to assist in coordinating daily operations of the QC Lab. In addition, the Lab Coordinator is responsible for training new hires and performing additional training with existing QC staff as needed. The other functions include, but are not limited to, analyzing routine samples, ordering supplies, troubleshooting instruments, work on special projects and to help with other QC functions as the need arises. The Lab Coordinator is held accountable for the data they generate. 
 

Responsibilities

  • Work a schedule as needed to facilitate optimal training of new hires
  • Train new hires 
  • Interface with Engineers, Chemists, Technicians and Operators to ensure smooth Laboratory and plant operations
  • Analyze routine and non-routine samples
  • Order supplies
  • Troubleshoot instruments or methods
  • Perform calibrations and other routine maintenance
  • Coordinate Special projects
  • Produce accurate and timely results
  • Maintain a safe work atmosphere in QC lab
  • Must be a team player 
  • If no other supervision is available, the Lab Coordinator will oversee lab operations.

Required Qualifications

  • BS Degree preferably in Chemistry. Degree holders in Biology or other related scientific fields are welcome to apply.
  • Proficiency in a wide variety of analytical techniques

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity in LIMS, SAP and Ariba
  • Exposure to polyolefin catalyst and/or polymer chemistry
  • Prior experience in an industrial analytical lab setting

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
