Job Description

We’re hiring an Environmental Engineer for our Baton Rouge, LA site who will report to the Environmental Manager. You will be responsible for the plant’s engineering and technical effectiveness, playing a critical role in leading and driving business and operational objectives to include EHS, Quality, Productivity, and Cost Effectiveness. Primary responsibilities will include day to day duties including maintaining air emission data, collecting and maintaining data for reports, and ensuring environmental compliance.


  • Monitor the plant water treatment system to maintain LDEQ Water Permit compliance through inspections and ensure plant activities don’t impact compliance
  • Support plant operations regarding environmental excellence and compliance
  • Implement and administer programs that ensure compliance with the site’s multi-media operating permits, including monitoring, reporting, and auditing (air, water, waste, SARA)
  • Ensure Operations and Maintenance teams have the tools and training needed to operate compliantly with environmental excellence
  • Perform periodic field auditing and coaching operational teams to ensure a safe, clean and compliant operation 
  • Collect and maintain sustainability metrics (energy, water, resource, etc.) and prepare responses to questionnaires on sustainability metrics 
  • Prepare, submit for internal review and signature, and mail the various environmental compliance reports for LDEQ, TCEQ, and EPA on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis to maintain all our Agency Issued Permits
  • Identify environmental waste reduction projects and assist in identifying other sustainability related initiatives to reduce overall environmental footprint. Areas of focus include energy use and water use.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering highly preferred, however will also accept general or civil engineering
  • 3-5 years of industry experience 
  • Knowledge and proficient use of Microsoft Office products with strong Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and proficient in SAP Software
  • Knowledge of US and Louisiana environmental laws (CAA, RCRA, CWA, EPCRA, SWPPP, TSCA, SPCC, CERCLA, DOT, LDEQ)
  • Communicates clearly and has strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborates effectively with management and other employees and has strong interpersonal skills to achieve goals
  • Be able to compose documentation that others without expertise in engineering will be able to understand
  • Ability to read and understand documentation that is often outside your area of expertise
  • A demonstrated ability to follow direction and work independently, as well as, in a team environment
